Dan Treiber

–

Cedar City, Utah

Dan A. Treiber, age 66, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026, after a courageous year long battle with ALS. A big man with an even bigger heart, Dan lived his life with unwavering determination, deep kindness, and a spirit that lifted everyone around him.

Born with a natural strength — both physical and personal — Dan overcame hardships throughout his life with relentless resolve. He was a positive, uplifting presence, known for his great sense of humor, his ability to make others feel seen and supported, and his gift for turning challenges into triumphs. He loved life fully, worked hard, and succeeded in everything he set his mind to.

Dan shared 32 years of true, devoted love with his wife, Laurie MacDonald Treiber. Their marriage was one of deep commitment, partnership, and joy — a bond that carried them through every season of life. Together they built not only a home, but a life defined by loyalty, laughter, and unshakeable unity.

Dan was a proud father to Danielle Treiber and Andrew Treiber, whom he loved with his whole heart. He is also survived by his siblings Dawn and Nick Albanese, Diana, Dena, and Debbie; his nieces and nephews Candice, Noelle, Christopher, and Justin; and their children Madison, Bailey, Maggie, Nico, Luca, Matthew, Michael, Kyle, Jackson, and Brenna. He is further survived by Diane and Dominic Vella, Marie Vella, Jerry Vella, Dominic Vella Jr., Monica, Jason, and Liam Scott; David & Megan Schaeffer, Kendall, Kolby, Collin, and Connor; and John, Babette, and Jessica MacDonald and Lisa Schaeffer. Dan’s love for family was wide and generous, and he touched each of their lives with his warmth and steady presence.

From a young age, Dan stood out — not only for his size and strength, but for his drive. In high school, he became a football star, earning admiration for his athleticism, leadership, and grit. His talent on the field led to a college football scholarship

Professionally, Dan was gifted with exceptional skill and work ethic. He began his career as a mason and rose to become a top sales and bid proposal leader for a major masonry company. His talent, integrity, and drive earned him deep respect in the industry. Eventually, Dan and Laurie opened their own masonry company, which they operated together for ten successful years before retiring in 2020 and relocating from California to Southern Utah.

Dan faced ALS with the same bravery and determination that defined his life. He fought with everything he had until his body could no longer continue. Even in the hardest moments, his courage and love for his family never wavered.
Dan leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, humor, and devotion. He will be remembered as a man who loved deeply, worked proudly, and lived with a heart big enough to hold everyone fortunate enough to know him.
His absence is immeasurable. His impact is everlasting.

ROBERT FROST
Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf,
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day
Nothing gold can stay.
