Gary Dempsey Morgan
Born Feb 10, 1954 - Died Aug 3, 2026
Dempsey passed away in Panguitch, Utah surrounded by his 6 children and many grandchildren on August 3rd, 2026. He was born in Syracuse, Kansas February 10th, 1954 to Truman and Violet Morgan.
Dempsey lived a big life. From becoming a national sky diving champion, avid hunter, fisherman, and master carpenter. There wasn’t much he couldn’t do. You could always find him tending to his perfectly manicured yard, cooking in his dutch ovens or hanging out in his green house in his free time. Come fall the black and gold or orange and blue would come out to support his Raiders and Phoenix Suns. (Long live Howey Long).
He spent many nights watching his grandkids play, listening to Jimmy Buffet and singing a ‘pirate looking at forty’ with a cold beer and a smoke.
Once his youngest flew the coop he shook the dust off his parachute and resurrected his love for sky diving all over again. When he turned 60 all of us kids went to Mesquite, Nevada and got to watch him jump again. After that he jumped in Arizona again with some of his sky diving buddies.
Dempsey and Patty met in Coolidge, Arizona at the drop zone. My dad says my mom fell first but we all know she didn’t make it easy on him. They got married August 11, 1979 in Las Vegas, Nevada and welcomed their first baby girl Brandi not long after in Mesa, Arizona. She was followed by Michelle, Matthew and Julianne. They decided the desert wasn’t where they wanted to raise a family so they made their way to Panguitch, Utah where they had two more children Charles and Savannah.
Dempsey worked for Dodds and Talbot Construction for 25+ years before he retired to take care of our mom in her final years with us.
Dempsey is survived by his 6 children. Brandi(Randall) Dickinson, Matthew(Corynn) Morgan, Michelle(Cade) Crofts, Julianne Morgan, Charles Morgan, Savannah(Nephi) Carlisle. 19 Grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Step Siblings: Stephanie Davis, Jill Jeffries, Toni Turner.
He was Preceeded in death By his wife: Patty Morgan, Brother: Dale Morgan, Parents: Truman, Violet and Ida Morgan, In-laws: Boyd and Renee Owens, Sister in-laws Maralyn Law, Suzanne Schow, Brother in-laws: Brian Owens and Chris Schow. Step Siblings: Kelly and Malcom Herbert
We would like to send a huge thank you to the Panguitch Hospice team that took care of him in his final days. Grand Daughter Divinity Hensley, Grand Daughter-in-law Cambree Marshall and his nurse Jody Houghton. A thank you truly isn’t enough. We are so grateful.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
