Escalante, Utah
Kathleen H. Williams passed away peacefully at her home in Escalante, Utah, on July 13, 2026, at the age of 96.
Kathleen was born on October 27, 1929, in Brigham City, Utah, to James and Frances Hall. She was the fifth of six children. She graduated from Brigham City High School before earning her Associate of Science degree from Weber State College. While attending Utah State University in Logan and working toward her bachelor's degree in elementary education, she met the love of her life, Lee Williams. Just one month after they were married, Kathleen contracted polio on her birthday. Through remarkable courage and determination, she overcame challenges that would have defined many lives. She was a pillar of strength, resilience, and grace, never allowing adversity to diminish her love for her family or her joyful spirit.
Kathleen and Lee eventually made their home in Escalante, where they became cherished members of the community for more than 40 years. She was a devoted wife, a loving and patient mother to seven children, and a treasured grandmother. Kathleen found joy in gardening, sewing, camping, traveling, and spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle patience, sweet laugh, and the quiet strength that inspired everyone who knew her.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lee Williams, and her granddaughters, Angela Lee Coleman and Sheryl Lynn Allen.
She is survived by her children: Debra Staples-Daw (Dallas), David Williams (Helen), Jolene Mallard (Duen), Eileen Gerloff (David), Bob Williams (Debbie), Dennis Williams (Beth), and Lori Coleman (Clayne); 30 grandchildren; approximately 77 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.
We are so grateful for everyone that shared their weeks and weekends with mom to assist in caring for her, that enable her to pass in her own home. To Dawna Jones who shared the in the care of mom and the home health nurses and aids we express our gratitude for all you help.
