In Loving Memory of Oscar Antonio Segarra
Oscar Antonio (Tony) Segarra, lovingly known as our Papa, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father on July 19, 2026, at the age of 76.
Tony was born on March 29, 1950, in Lajas, Puerto Rico. He later met the love of his life, Pamela in 1978, and they were married, beginning a beautiful partnership that lasted nearly five decades. They truly did everything together. Whether they were working, fishing, tackling another home project, or simply enjoying everyday life, they were happiest side by side. To know Tony was to know that Pam wasn’t just his wife, she was his best friend, his favorite fishing partner, and the love of his life.
Tony was a man of few words, but when he spoke, people listened. He had a strong quiet confidence, a gentle heart, and a steady presence that made everyone around him feel safe. He never needed attention or recognition. Instead, he let his character, his work ethic, and the way he treated others speak for him.
For many years, Tony worked as a carpenter in the flooring industry. His craftsmanship was second to none, and anyone fortunate enough to see his work knew they were looking at something built with skill, pride, and perfection. He believed that if a job was worth doing, it was worth doing right. Whether he was creating something for a customer or building something for one of his children or grandchildren, he did everything with love.
Fishing was one of Tony’s greatest joys. It wasn’t about how many fish he caught, it was about the peace he found on the water and the memories he made with the people he loved. Some of his happiest days were spent with a fishing pole in his hand and Pam by his side.
To his family, Papa was the rock. He was dependable, selfless, and always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved deeply and quietly, showing his affection through hard work, sacrifice, and simply being there whenever he was needed. His greatest pride and joy was his family, especially his seven grandchildren and his eight great-grandchildren, who brought immeasurable happiness to his life. He became the father some of us needed most, proving that love, not biology, is what makes a family.
Those who knew Tony will undoubtedly smile remembering one of the few times he ever raised his voice. Grandma Pam loved to talk, and every now and then, with a grin that only we understood, he’d say, “Oh, be quiet Pam.” It became one of the countless little moments that perfectly captured the laughter, love, and lifelong friendship they shared.
Tony’s faith in Jesus Christ guided the way he lived. He was a humble man whose life reflected kindness, honesty, hard work, and unwavering devotion to his family. He leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured by the things he built, but by the lives he touched and the love he gave so freely.
Tony is survived by his devoted wife, Pamela Segarra; his children; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his sister, Maria Schwitters; his brother, David Segarra; and many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
While we will miss him every day, we take comfort in knowing he is at peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before him, and hearing the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
We love you, Papa. Thank you for being our rock, our example, and the heart of our family. Until we meet again.
