William Savage

–

Parowan, Utah

William Allan “Bill” Savage—lovingly known as Dad, Grandpa, and Uncle—passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026, returning home to his Father in Heaven.

Bill was born on May 31, 1941, in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, to Sylis Basil Savage and Alice Elizabeth Betts. He was number six of seven children and notably the first of his siblings to be born in a hospital.

He spent much of his childhood in Nemacolin, Pennsylvania, where his father worked as a coal miner. Hoping for different opportunities for his family, his father later moved them to California, where Bill grew into adulthood.

While living in California, Bill resided in Buena Park and worked for over 34 years as a Union Carpenter and Acoustical Engineer, installing ceilings throughout Southern California. He later pursued training in clock repair, a craft he deeply loved and practiced for over 50 years—continuing until the very end of his life.

Bill married his first wife, Kathleen, in California, and together they had five daughters: Kimberly (Kim), Debra (Debbie), Jacqueline (Jackie), Shelly, and Shannon. Though they later divorced, Bill remained devoted to his family. He later met and married the love of his life, Katherine (Kathy) Lyn Savage, with whom he shared two children: KarrieAnn and William (Will). Bill and Kathy just celebrated 50 years of marriage last October.

Bill and Katherine eventually settled in Parowan, Utah, where they raised their younger children and built a life together. They later met the “Mormon missionaries” where they very intently listened to their message, felt and recognized the truth they shared, and chose to join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were sealed as a family in the St. George Temple for time and all eternity. Bill spent the last 31 years of his life in Parowan, a place he proudly called home.

He found great joy in the outdoors and loved fishing, hunting, boating, and traveling. He also enjoyed the simple pleasures, like dining out, or a cold can of Dr. Pepper.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents Sylas Basil Savage and Alice Elizabeth Betts as well as his siblings: Erna Freida, Wilma Jean, Louella May, Donald Lee, Gary Blaine, and Leonard Wayne Savage and beloved daughter, Kimberly Ann King. He is survived by his devoted wife, Katherine Lyn Savage; his children Debbie, Jackie, Shelly, Shannon, KarrieAnn, and Will; as well as 21 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward his legacy.

Bill was a man who was deeply loved by his family and friends. His steady presence, hardworking spirit, and warm heart will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
